When-Where-What: Tuesdays 8:00-8:50 a.m. UC-017 First Meeting: September 23, 2008. No Dues - EVER! Computers are limited, so if you have a laptop, bring it. Open to all students regardless of major.

Marketing-Product Intern

Position: Marketing/Product Intern

Company: Vivaty

Location: Menlo Park, CA

Requirements:

  • Smart and extremely detail-oriented
  • Self-directed, can-do attitude
  • Knows how to use the Internet to authentically connect users and products
  • Up to date on the latest trends in social media and good web user experience
  • Regular use of MySpace, Twitter, Facebook and other leading social networks
  • Ability to give 10 hours/week to Vivaty throughout the term, at least 5 hours of which would be on-site at Vivaty offices in Menlo Park.

Nice to Have:

  • Medium-level working knowledge of HTML (enough edit our help wiki,  code newsletters working from a template, work on Wordpress add-ons, etc)
  • Ideally wants to pursue a career in technology/consumer internet company after college
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly, such as screen capture, video editing, etc.

Duties:

  • Customer Support: interface with customers using Vivaty, elicit feedback, solve issues, track and trend issues, and pass feedback into product development team.  Must feel comfortable with both web-based tools like Get Satisfaction as well as more traditional support ticketing system.
  • Additional community programs:
    • Manage ongoing newsletters to Vivaty user base (including html code, list upload, testing and template refinement)
    • Propose and manage community programs with Vivaty users, such as meet-ups, in-product feedback, forums, contests, etc.
  • Social media:  Track blog and social media conversation. Evangelize the Vivaty product to key social networking users, especially college-aged users. Maintain the Vivaty voice on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.  Propose new communities that make sense and create a voice there.

Secondary Duties:

  • Paid Search/Social Media: Manage Vivaty’s Google Adwords and Facebook ad campaigns.  Explore additional advertising outlets and test response.
  • Data analysis: Analyze data coming from Facebook application and in-house web metrics and highlight trends for marketing/product team.
  • Blog:  Manage Vivaty blog, including topic suggestions, blog writing, and blog optimization/design.
  • Feature input: feed into product development pipeline with ideas on user experience and community evolution.
  • Developer program: interface with content creators in Vivaty’s developer program. Troubleshoot them through questions on our tools and content creation process.

Compensation: $16 per hour for up to 20 hours a week. 5-10 hours/week on-site at Vivaty offices required.

Web Manager - IT Support

POSITION: Within the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design a successful candidate will manage the college’s computer studios, and information systems; research new technologies; provide training and technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students; and maintain the College website.
 
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree required in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Web design and development experience, conforming to W3C standards and best practices; XHTML, CSS, ASP. At least 1 yr relevant experience in user support services, software/hardware maintenance, computer security, and/or general computer administration with Macintosh and Windows systems. Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software/ hardware. Advanced computer literacy in a Mac and PC environment. Experience with graphics, CAD, and 2D/3D video desirable. Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills are all also required.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as Westphal College web manager; develop new web pages and functionality, keep site current, work closely with all programs to ensure needs are met. Provide assistance for additional digital graphic services; presentation graphics, digital photography, scanning, etc. Provide technical assistance, support, and advice to faculty, staff, and students; i.e. installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware/ software problems in a Mac and PC environment on individual computers and for academic computer labs. Other responsibilities include evaluating, researching, and implementing new equipment, computers, and information systems. Train and supervise student workers. Provide training to faculty, staff, and students as warranted.
