The name of my super hero alter ego is DaLingoKid. Dedicated to truth, justice, and the art of lingo logic. Between college, work, and what sometimes passes as a social life… I like to assist aspiring New Media Authors with “troubleshooting” their lingo scripts by creating custom Director movies that address specific issues.

Why DaLingoKid?

Dalingokid Who? Some people claim to be “experts”, or “gurus” in the ever growing discipline of Digital Multimedia. As for me…. I’m none of those titles…. I’m just DaLingoKid. The DaLingoKid is the name of my super hero alter ego. Dedicated to truth, justice, fun, and the art of lingo logic. After all…. if a picture is worth a thousand words, then an interactive multimedia movie must be worth at least a million. What better Vector-based Interactive Authoring tool than Macromedia’s Director and it’s scripting language “LINGO”?

I’ve been programming computers since 1979. Yes way way back in the days of punch cards and mainframes that took up enter floors. But that does not make me DaLingoKid. I’ve spent over a decade in the Air Force programming and teaching others how to program in languages like: (Fortran, Pascal, Cobol, C++, JavaScript, etc). But that does not make me DaLingoKid. I’ve got an Associates Degree in Computer Science (GPA 3.7) and BS Degree in Information Science & Technology (GPA 3.9). But that does not make me DaLingoKid. I’ve been using Director since Director 4.0. But that does not make me DaLingoKid. I’ve been professionally consulting as an Interactive Multimedia Software Engineer specializing in but not limited to Director/Lingo since 1992. But that does not make me DaLingoKid. In addition to consulting I’m currently a fulltime Instructor/Professor at Drexel University’s Digital Media Department. Teaching digital multimedia interactively using html, javascript, flash, and guess what…. Director/Lingo. But that does not make me DaLingoKid. I’m the DaLingoKid because of a fortunate twist of fate…. The creator of the “Lingo” language is a cool dude called John “JT” Thompson. John “JT” Thompson took almost two years of his busy life, took me in and taught me Lingo from the ground up as only he could. After my “apprenticeship” was done.. I asked John how I could ever possibly repay him…. John said “Jervis you can’t ever repay me….. All you could do is past it on”. Thus was the birth of the DaLingoKid web site. btw. The creator of Lingo…. John “JT” Thompson is my big brother, and I’m his “Kid” brother…. hence the name DaLingoKid. Thanks Big Bro I could not of done it without ya 8-)
