Website Redesign Case Study: R5 Productions

Problem

Some of the basic issues with the existing site include the navigation, the content, the aesthetics, and organization. The navigation is small, hard to read, and push far to the left of the screen. Some of the links of the navigation are dead as well. There is also no user feedback for the navigation, when you rollover the links nothing lets you know you are on it, and nothing lets you know what page you are on. The content is also hard to read. It’s all pile on top of each other, and there is no sense of organization on the page. The aesthetics or color scheme is also very bland, there is just a gray background, and its uninviting to the user.

Solution

We definitely solved many of the issues of the existing site, especially with navigation. The navigation bar is shorter. The white color of the links makes the navigation sticks out, and is easy to see for the users. When the user rollovers the navigation bar, a light blue shadow appears over each link, and the page that the user is on is highlighted blue. The content is very organized into sections and subsections for the user. The aesthetics is also very inviting, and the color scheme still holds a little of the existing site style, but with a mix of vivid colors to bring it to life. We evened added a radio section, so the user can preview music of the upcoming artists. The new site is definitely much better then the current one.
