Project Brief: R5 Productions

Project Summary:

R5productions.com is a website that is an independent music promoter in Philadelphia. The site now is a bad design and lacks aesthetics, organization and interactivity. Our goals are to re-create a better site that is user friendly and gives an immersive experience.  The single purpose of this site is to inform people about upcoming concerts in the Philadelphia area.  Our main goal is to promote music, and our long-term goal is to remain a leader in promoting independent music and providing more media to the users.

Audience Profile:

The target audience is music and tech savvy people.  These people are usually between the ages of 15 and 30.  The majority occupation is mostly high school and college students or males. They are on the site frequently.  These users also view upcoming concerts, buy apparel and music, sign up for the newsletter and visit external websites such as the band’s website and the ticket website.  They’re interested in watching new artists perform and discovering new music. Most users return because we offer an enjoyable and informational experience with content they can’t find anywhere else.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:

Our target audience will respond to our new site by spending more time it, enjoying its new look, its organization, and its user-friendly interactivity.  The target audience believes the current site is what it is; they have gotten use to the bad design of the current site.  With the new site, we want to make it such a good design, that the target audience doesn’t even have to think about it. We will do this by making the site easier to understand, making the navigation larger, making the text larger, correcting the spelling, and adding interactivity.  The new site will be Hip, fun, clear, clean, and sexy.

Communication Strategy:

We will meet our measurable goals by redesigning the website and having positive feedback on our message board.  Our overall message is ease of use, which we will convey by the redesign of the current website.  We will see how successful our new site is by the number of people that come to the shows and sign up, and by the feedback on our message board.

Competitive Positioning:

We are different from our competition because we plan to offer a site with better user experience and more content than our competition. In turn, we will spread the bands’ message to a larger audience.  Our new site will prove we are different from other competition because it will be easier to understand and simpler.  However, what really set us apart from other competitors is our large variety of music and our frequent of updates. So far our content is the most successful area on our site and that is because a large number of bands are already on it.
