REQUIREMENTS: We are looking for an experienced Flash developer with advanced skills in ActionScript, back-end database support, and photo-realistic animation for a contract project expected to last approximately two months.
DUTIES: We have previously developed a working Flash system that allows capturing, storing, searching, and displaying text-based data into a mySQL database using ActionScript and PHP. The fundamental framework and back-end of this system will not change, but the entire system must be re-skinned in a completely different visual style. Animations will need to be developed around the way the data is captured and presented. In addition, movie vignettes (to be created in After Effects by a separate resource) must be integrated into the visual experience. You will work under the supervision of a Producer and Executive Producer to create the visuals as defined in storyboards created by one of our designers. The developer of the original system will be available to answer any questions about the pre-existing Flash system. Otherwise you must work fairly independently and keep to tight deadlines. You need not be in NYC, off-site work is fine as long as you are available to communicate via IM and send/receive large files via broadband.

- Qualifications - The applicant must have a portfolio of previous work as well as references to assist us in verifying their skills. They will need to have at least 2 years professional experience with current web markup or scripting languages including HTML, XHTML, CSS and JavaScript. Expertise with dynamic or active web content and the use of Perl, C/C++, CGI, and/or SQL is essential as well as expertise with PHP and ASP. Good web server knowledge and understanding of communication technologies like TCP/IP, Proxies, FTP, are also needed. Applicant must have great skill within all leading design tools such as Adobe, Macromedia, strong Dreamweaver and Photoshop. They should also have extensive knowledge in Action Scripting within Flash and familiarity with eCommerce development. Must be comfortable working on both PC and Mac platforms.
- Other Skills Include:
- Good understanding of databases such as SQL, mySQL, Access, Oracle etc.
- Excellent skills in mathematics and knowledge of computer hardware, audio / visual, infrastructure, networking, etc.
- Expertise in current Internet standards, including Web browsers and browser specifications.
- Ability to learn new Internet and authoring technologies for web site development.
- Working knowledge of networking technologies, including security and encryption on the Internet.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
