Filmmaker and Associate Director of the Media Education Lab, Eugene Martin, will discuss his partnership with The Village of Arts and Humanities in North Philadelphia. Professor Martin teaches an honors Community Media Production course where Temple undergraduates work with urban high school students at The Village to teach media production skills. Several students will be present to discuss short films they created. The film "Dreaming," created by high school students at The Village, is a magical story about a boy who is frustrated at home and wants to be treated like an adult. After an altercation with an adult, he becomes an adult—and then realizes he wants the simplicity and security of childhood. The second film is documentary by Temple undergraduates about the making of "Dreaming." Come join participants to discuss how youth media production promotes media literacy and breaks through cultural barriers.

Mar 21, 2007 - Director LIVES ON!
Per the product manager for Director and Shockwave at Adobe Ritesh Banglani [02/23/2007]

"Hi, I am the product manager for Director and Shockwave at Adobe. We are very much aware of this issue, and have a two-step plan to address the performance issue on Vista. 1. In the very short term, we will release a Vista-compliant version of the Shockwave player, which will force the movie to use DirectX 7. While the performance is still likely to be poorer than on XP, it will be better than what you see today (with software rendering). 2. With the next release of Director, we plan to move to DirectX 9.x. I appreciate the problems developers are facing, and assure you that the team is working very hard to fix these performance issues. -Ritesh"

In the short run.. growing pains for vista early adopters. In the long run.. Director will continue to rule the high end 3D, CDROM, and local hard drive development market! I'm so happy 8-)
